Multiplayer Refueling Problems |
Mirv and I did a couple of multiplayer refueling missions the past couple of days and were partially successful,
except for one major problem. After much to-do, pepsis, curses and crashes, we finally narrowed it down to the wingman having trouble
refueling, regardless if he is host or a client. The problem lies within positioning: if #2 (wingman) says he's under the tanker or in
position... the player in (lead) #1 actually sees #2 as about 2000ft or so behind the tanker, and the truth is, the lead always sees the
tanker in the right spot. So therefore when #2 thinks he's under the tanker, he's really not, and the tanker doesn't give you cues because
you're not really within position. On the other hand, when the lead goes to refuel, he can do it successfully (if talented enough :)),
so there is not really a problem there.
So as we went try to #2 to refuel, Mirv said he was in position and was not getting his cues like "forward, back" etc. Although he was in
position on HIS end, from my view (which always sees the tanker in the right spot), I saw Mirv like 5 or 6 tanker lengths behind the
tanker. Thats the same problem we were having, we tried all sorts of combinations.. Since I saw the tanker in front of him, I asked Mirv
to try to keep his altitude with tanker, and slowly creep forward (event hough supposidly he was already under tanker). So I guided Mirv
with instructions in order for him to look like hes actually 'in position' on my end... which was a couple thousand feet forward from where
he thought/saw where the tanker was... And that was it! Once he got near the position where he SHOULD have been from my end to refuel, he
started to get cues from the boom operator! So give it a try guys and I hope you sorta understood what we said. :) Maybe we can nail
this awkward positioning bug soon!
