News-the latest from eTeam...
Awfully quiet round here...September 5, 2001
Again, my apologies for not updating this site so often anymore.

The reason for this is that the eTeam activity as we know it is no more. The members of eTeam have joined the F4UT (Falcon 4 Unified Team) and are getting set up to create F4SuperPAK.

Therefore the future of this site is a bit uncertain. We'll see what happens. I'll let you know as soon as I get the word.

F4Patch Standard41 RP5 UpdateAugust 20, 2001
The F4Patch_Standard41_RP5 that was posted yesterday contained a few 3d model problems that caused a CTD in i2.

An updated version has now been uploaded so if you downloaded the file on Sunday or Monday you may want to redownload it.

Hauling Iron GuidesAugust 13, 2001
Stephen 'HotDogOne' French of Hauling Iron let me know that there is a new guide for download at their site.

This great guide covers all you need to know about the AIM-120 and how to use it in eFalcon 1.10.

There is also an update to the APG68-radar guide to make it 1.10 compatible.

I suggest you download these babies right away. They're available here.

Great work, Stephen!

Jetnet ChangesAugust 12, 2001
Since Dominator changed his domain from falcon40.com to falcon40.net you must change the settings in efalcon.cfg (located in your Falcon4 directory) from jetnet.falcon40.com to jetnet.falcon40.net.

Otherwise JetNet will not work properly.

(I must also remember to update my links...)

Thanks for keeping your site alive, Dominator!

1.10 Released!August 6, 2001
The eTeam proudly presents eFalcon 1.10.

This download is probably rather unique in the computer gaming business. This would never have been possible if it wasn't for great guys spending most of their spare time to refine this simulation software for you to enjoy. And entierly free of charge.

Send them a note of appreciation (through me) if you want to. They deserve it!

This version is the last in the eFalcon series. eFalcon 1.11 will probably be called Falcon V. ;)

What files should you download?

- eFalcon 1.10 Installer - One-click-Installer to go from 1.08 US to eFalcon 1.10 (For the basic installation, you don't need anything else)
-F4Patch 4.1 Standard and eFalcon 1.10 EXE - If you want to tweak your setup, install F4Patch 4.1 Standard onto a 1.08US and add the eFalcon.exe, then start patching (This allows maximum modularity, like adding of F4Patch Cockpits, Skins, Sounds and Standalone-Patches)
- eFalcon 1.10 Config Editor - Optional, can be used with both of the above installation methods. Allows easy configuration of eFalcon instead of Notepad-editing.

Download eFalcon 1.10 in the downloads section, and don't forget to read the F.A.Q.

If the download is slow, please try our mirrors:

Falcon Pilots,

The eTeam is pleased to announce the release of the final version

Lack of updates...July 13, 2001
Hi fellow Falconeers.

As you might have noticed, it's been awfully quiet around here lately. This is my fault, and I apologize.

Ever since our second child was born (some 5 weeks ago) I simply haven't had the energy to keep the updates coming at the frequency I'd like them to.

Behind the scenes, 1.10 is coming along just fine and the releasedate 'soon' still stands. ;)

Again, my apologies.

Carrier ops...May 7, 2001
I got some interesting ACMIs today, showing some carrier operations in eFalcon. Before you get too excited, here's some info.

In it's current status it's not good for much more than playing around. A hook can be deployed (but since there is no 3d graphics for it you won't se it) and the hook pretty much works as a big brake for now.

The 3d model of the carrier also makes the landing look strange from external views.

The goal is to eventually allow the AI to take off and land on the carriers, instead of appearing out of thin air as they do now. But that's for the future. As you probably guessed, this is not very high priority. But I thought I'd share it just the same...

eFalcon CockpitsMay 4, 2001
I noticed over at Frugal's forums that there are some news about eFalcon cockpits.

First, the 1.09 compatible version of Paul Wilson's v7 cockpit is very close to be released. Later today if all goes well. That's great! Look here for details.

As if that wasn't enough our friend Skypat, the french cockpit maestro, is working on a 1600x1200 version of the Official 1.09 Cockpit. Read all about it, and watch a couple of screenshots here.

Thanks to all of you!May 1, 2001
Thanks to all of you!

First of all I want to thank everyone that has contributed to eTeams work over the last weeks after 1.09 release by sending in crashlogs. The amount of crashlogs I have recieved is overwhelming and I assure you that every effort is made within the team to deal with these as soon as possible. I have never seen a community come together for one common cause as we have now managed to do. Today I am extremely proud to be a Falcon 4.0 flyer!

I also want to thank all of the sites and their webmasters for letting us use their pages to post our crashlog banner. If you have a site and want to support us by posting this banner too, just contact me via e-mail and I'll be delighted to send you a copy of it.

To all of you that have sent me questions about bugs, installation problems, requests etc - I am sorry that I haven't had the oppertunity to answer you yet. The boom of crashlogs combined with some major technical problems on my end over the last week has unfortunately left me unable to do this. I'll try and get back to all of you as soon as I find the time...

Again; thanks! Keep up the great work!

/Adrien "Napoleon" Hogg,

1.09 Keystrokes FileApril 26, 2001
After a bit of work, the revised keystrokes.key for eFalcon 1.09 is finished. Like many of you have noticed, the one installed by the 1.09 installer was broken, so the keyboard map didn't match the functionality in the sim.

Just download eFalcon_keys.zip and follow the installation instructions in the readme.

Fix for 1.09 InstallerApril 24, 2001
Some people have experienced problems with the 1.09 Installer. An error that looks something like this shows up:

EFALCON109_INSTALLER caused an invalid page fault in module

JJB have provided a fix for this. Look here for details.

Status ReportApril 22, 2001
It's been a week since 1.09 was released, and I though I'd just give you a short status report.

First of all, thanks for all your positive feedback and constructive criticism. We appreciate it!

Second, we are happy to report that there are no major bugs in 1.09. Sure there are a few glitches, but considering the amount of new features, this must be considered a successful release. The only showstopper would be the keystrokes.key-file that was more or less porked. We apologize for this, and a new one will be released pretty soon. Some very talented members of the community have been working to fix this as well. Thanks a lot for that. (You know who you are...)

The journey towards 1.10 has just begun, my friends. The coders have already started making Falcon 4.0 even more realistic. I will try to provide you with previews of new features on the way.

Please, feel free to contact me for questions, comments or (constructive) criticism. And make sure you send your crashlogs to Napoleon. We need your help.

eFalcon GuidesApril 22, 2001

First, Mark 'Frugal' Bush posted a great guide on engine startup. Get it here.

Second, Red Dog posted complete, printable checklists. You may grab them over at F4Freeware.

Great work!

1.09 ReleasedApril 17, 2001
Finally, the wait is over! After 1000's of hours of hard work by the coders, testers, coordinators, webmasters (hehe) eFalcon 1.09 is here!

Remember to read the installation instructions carefully! There is also a 1.09 FAQ posted that should answer most of your questions. The download is pretty big. This is because it contains the Official 1.09 Cockpit and the required RP Patch.

Download eFalcon 1.09 in the downloads section!

If you want the whole package, download eFalcon109_Installer.exe. This contains everything you need. If you are very familiar with F4Patch you can download the eFalcon109_Exe.zip. This is a standalone executable for use with F4Patch. See the manual for details.

1.09 Manual ReleasedApril 8, 2001
The eTeam is pleased to announce that eFalcon version 1.09 is entering the final beta testing stages. We anticipate public release very soon (we won't quote an exact date so don't ask). This is the first version of eFalcon that we are pleased to label with a version number higher than 1.08. We have moved far beyond the capabilities of the original program and brought home flight simulation one step closer to real flight. The cockpit workload is just beginning to approach the level experienced by a real pilot. The avionics and weapons are closer than ever to a modern F-16C. The graphics are still gorgeous and are DirectX 8.0+ compatible (one of our members has a GeForce3 and reports that you just have to see it to believe it, this ain't your mother's Falcon anymore).

You may download the manual by clicking here.

Official 1.09 CockpitMarch 21, 2001
Nighthawk sent me this pressrelease about the Official 1.09 Cockpit. I'll try to convince him to let me post a few screens as soon as possible. ;)

- - -
The Official eFalcon 1.09 Cockpit Team has been hard at work for the pastmonths creating the most realistic cockpit ever for Falcon 4. We havebeen working closely with the rest of the eTeam to ensure completefunctionality and compatibility with eFalcon 1.09. Here are a few ofthe great features the pit will have to offer:

- Fully 3D Views
- All views are entirely redone and more realistic than ever
- All switches for eFalcon 1.09 are functional
- Complete new side panels for all new switches
- And much, much more!

The release of the cockpit will coincide with the release of eFalcon 1.09sometime in the coming months. The graphics in the pit are currentlynear completion, yet there is still much code to be written and that amountincreases each day.

In the coming weeks, the eTeam will be releasing some exclusive screenshotsfrom the cockpit which will give the community a first true look at whatthey have to expect.

Thank you for your support,Official eFalcon 1.09 Cockpit Team.
